About this piece

Ellen Lanyon (1926–2013) was a Chicago painter and printmaker known for dreamlike, finely observed imagery. In this 1963 work a tangle of baseball players in caps and uniforms collides in mid-play, with a flash of stars and stripes behind them. Artwork is sold unframed.
